Colombo Floating Market is one of the best attractive shopping spot in Colombo. It will give you a really different kind of experience. There are 92 shopping stalls. They includes cloths, shoes, foods, accessories and electonic items. This is also a great place for romantic couples who looking to spend some time together on a date. The floating market is quite photogenic. The floating market has two entrances.
- Main Entrance
Main entrance has a large wooden made arch marked Floating Market-Pettah. Walk down and walk along on the wooden boardwalk extending over the water to reach the market. First you can see the main restaurant. It is really nice place to have a meal in such a environment.
- Side Entrance
This entrance is also really attractive and you can see there are some chairs in a greenery environment. You can freely chat with your loved ones while having some foods or drinks. Some people usually visit floating market to have a meal in here.
- History
Earlier this place was one of the worst areas in Pettah. But according to the beautification project conduct by the Urban Development Authority, This beautiful place was constructed in 2014.
